ICT senior project manager

We are recruiting for an ICT senior project manager based out of Cardiff.

Job purpose

The role will be responsible for managing projects relating to the Development Bank’s (DBW’s) Digital Transformation initiative; designed to enhance DBW’s customer journey, back-office system integrations and realise process efficiencies.

Primarily focused around software development, responsibilities include engaging with a wide range of internal stakeholders and a small number of third party suppliers to ensure projects are delivered successfully, reporting on project status to DBW Project Boards and the PMO function and managing adherence to project budgets.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Manage DBW’s Digital Transformation project portfolio
  • Manage  resources between third party suppliers and internal DBW teams, promoting collaboration to ensure agreed project deliverables are met
  • Produce and report on project performance to various internal DBW Project Boards and escalate any issues to those Project Boards as appropriate
  • Work closely with DBW’s small Project Management Office, to ensure ongoing project governance requirements are met
  • Work closely with other members of the ICT team to exchange knowledge
  • Any other task as may be defined by the ICT Director to meet the operational needs of the department

Knowledge, skills, abilities and experience


  • Proven ability to deliver complex ICT development/business projects to time and cost
  • Track record of managing software design, development, testing and implementation processes
  • Experience applying DevOps in an environment where software components are principally delivered via commercial off the shelf solutions
  • Experience of Target Operating Model design and implementation
  • Experience of project managing Digital Transformation initiatives
  • Accredited Project Management qualification(s) and a solid understanding of both Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies
  • Excellent interpersonal verbal communication and influencing/negotiating skills
  • Very high standard of written communication skills tailored for a variety of audiences
  • Solid stakeholder and supplier management skills
  • Confident in the use and interpretation of project management and software development management toolsets
  • Problem solver with the ability to analyse situations or issues, capture current process states, identify future requirements and make practical recommendations
  • Ability to prioritise and organise work under pressure and determination to complete tasks to a high standard with measurable success
  • A flexible approach to working hours


  • Degree level educated
  • Experience of financial or professional services companies
  • Understanding and experience of change management processes
