Project manager - cloud

We are recruiting for a project manager based out of Cardiff. Salary negotiable on experience.

Job purpose

The role will be responsible for managing a project to select the services of a third party supplier (or suppliers) to plan and implement the migration of the Development Bank’s server estate to the cloud.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Convert the Head of ICT’s cloud strategy into a procurement specification
  • Run procurement project(s) to select the third party supplier(s)
  • Manage the day to day liaison with the chosen supplier(s)
  • Manage any interactions between the chosen supplier(s) and the existing third part ICT service provider
  • Ensure all dependencies between ICT services are identified for inclusion into the transition plan
  • Report on project progress paying particular attention to the management of risk
  • Work closely with the ICT Team to exchange knowledge
  • Work closely with the Risk, Legal and Compliance team to ensure all services are procured compliantly
  • Engage with a wide-range of stakeholders within the business to capture requirements and report on project progress
  • Any other task as may be defined by the Head of ICT to meet the operational needs of the department


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience


  • Demonstrable experience with Microsoft technologies, including technical accreditation such as MCSE or MCSA
  • Demonstrable experience in a Project Management or Technical Management roles
  • Accredited Project Management qualification(s)
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong supplier management skills and experience
  • Strong working knowledge of cloud technologies
  • Strong verbal, influencing and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written skills, including the ability to write technical documentation
  • Self-starter who is able to work unsupervised
  • Ability to prioritise and organise work under pressure and determination to complete tasks to a high standard with measureable success
  • Solid understanding of business processes
  • Have a flexible approach to working hours


  • Degree level educated
  • ITIL or similar ICT Service Management Qualification
  • Experience of managing similar cloud related transition projects
  • Experience of procurement policies, procedures and tender processes
  • Experience of financial or professional services companies
  • Experience of line management
  • Understanding of the Management of Risk
