Project manager - infrastructure

We are recruiting for a project manager based out of Cardiff. Salary negotiable on experience.

Job purpose

The role will be responsible for project managing a number of projects, based around the development bank’s ICT infrastructure with a specific initial focus on security and information management.

Responsibilities will include working closely with the ICT team, outsourced IT service provider and a wide range of internal stakeholders to design, test and implement ICT solutions. The overall aim of these projects will be to improve the ICT infrastructure usability, performance and security to meet the needs of a more flexible workforce. A significant portion of the role will involve creating technical Statements of Work for implementation by the outsourced IT service provider and managing the full lifecycle of service transition from user acceptance testing to steady state operation.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Project manage a number of projects to enhance the performance and security of the Development Bank’s ICT Infrastructure
  • Work closely with the ICT Team and outsourced ICT service provider to design, plan and implement projects to the timescales and quality required
  • Engage with a wide-range of stakeholders within the business to ensure all holistic design of solutions  
  • Ensure appropriate testing, training and documentation for all new products deployed
  • Work closely with other members of the ICT team to exchange  knowledge
  • Any other task as may be defined by the Head of ICT to meet the operational needs of the department

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience with Microsoft technologies, including technical accreditation such as MCSE or MCSA
  • Demonstrable experience in a Project Management or Technical Management roles
  • Accredited Project Management qualification(s)
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong supplier management skills and experience
  • Strong verbal, influencing and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written skills, including the ability to write technical documentation
  • Strong working knowledge of security related products
  • Self-starter who is able to work unsupervised
  • Able to analyse situations or issues, capture current process states, identify future requirements and deliver practical, high quality solutions that meet the needs of stakeholders effectively
  • Ability to prioritise and organise work under pressure and determination to complete tasks to a high standard with measureable success
  • Solid understanding of business processes
  • Have a flexible approach to working hours

Desirable

  • Degree level educated
  • ITIL or similar ICT Service Management Qualification
  • ICT security based accreditation
  • Experience of cloud technologies
  • Experience of financial or professional services companies
  • Experience of line management
