Legal services executive

We’re recruiting for a Legal Services Executive based out of Wales on a 12-month fixed term contract

Job purpose

Delivery of efficient legal services, involved with all parts of the legal and administrative aspects of the Development Bank Group Investments work. 

Requirement to deliver large volumes of work accurately and within demanding time scales.

Generate and monitor internally charged fees levied for the provision of legal services.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for drafting offer letters and associated security documents for loans made  by Development Bank Group. Meet expected turnaround times for the preparation of such legal documents as defined by the relevant service level agreements.
  • Play a key role in the completion of all formalities in relation to legal and quasi-legal documentation. Perfect security documents and complete all relevant registration procedures.
  • Maintain information systems to ensure the accurate recording of the Development Banks Group security documents and ensure all obligations to maintain this security are met.
  • Agree and charge fees for the provision of internal legal services and meet fee targets. Maintain information systems to record fees generated.
  • Responsible for instructing panel solicitors to provide legal services on behalf of Development Bank Group; ensure a continuous dialogue and obtaining timely, competitive quotes.  Review instructions and outsource if outside areas of expertise as required.
  • Proactively deal with enquiries from Development Bank Group staff, external clients and liaise with lawyers in relation to investment and security documentation. Ensure that all interactions with internal and external contacts are conducted in accordance with the highest standards of customer service.
  • Advise Investment staff on the commercial impact of any changes requested to standard legal documentation and bespoke internally generated documentation such as Deeds of Priority.
  • Undertake regular reviews of legal/security documentation to ensure compliance with relevant statute, including Companies Act and Consumer Credit Act.
  • Contribute to the creation and continual improvement of investment business process guidance in relation to legal services.
  • Operate as part of the Legal Services Team contributing to the totality of the teams’ responsibilities and activities.
  • Any other task as may be defined by the Senior Legal Advisor to meet the operational needs of the department.

Knowledge, skills, abilities and experience

Essential 

  • Strong written, drafting and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organisation and administrative skills with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to organise work under pressure and determination to complete tasks in a qualitative manner with measurable success.
  • Committed to developing knowledge and expertise.
  • Flexible approach to ensure completion of team responsibilities
  • IT/PC literate with ability to use Microsoft Office packages – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mails, intranet and internet.
  • Educated to a good standard of education
  • Knowledge and understanding of legal documentation including loan agreements and security

Desirable 

  • Degree or relevant experience of working within the financial services sector
  • Welsh speaker                     
  • An awareness of business issues in Wales
  • Understanding of the principles of business lending
  • Knowledge / experience of using Docusign or similar electronic signing platforms
