Wild Water Group, South Wales’ largest cold storage chain, has announced its expansion with new territories in southern England.
The company, which has doubled its workforce since the COVID-19 pandemic hit in early 2020, recently announced that it had acquired new sites in Plymouth and Avonmouth with a view to continue its reach further across southern England,
Two further new Wild Water Group sites have now been acquired in Taunton and Southampton. They bring the Group’s total site network up to eight storage facilities offering a total of 551,000 sq ft storage space for clients.
Wild Water offers bespoke cold storage solutions. The latest acquisitions will help to grow the service to become the leading market provider in the region of bonded warehousing, distribution, order picking, full pallet picking, blast freezing, tempering, and cross docking.
The expansion has seen the Group’s capacity increase to over 56,000 frozen pallets, 6000 chilled pallets, and 10,000 ambient pallets, as well as a significant increase in their blast freezing capacity.
Ken Rattenbury, founder and Group Managing Director of the Wild Water Group has led his senior management team to carefully and creatively find new avenues for growth during a turbulent global financial crisis. He said: “We’re really pleased with the rate that we have been able to deliver on our 2021 goals to expand into southern England and thereby provide our customers with more options to suit their operational needs.”

The Wild Water Group is part of a cold storage and supply chain alliance with GAC, a leading global shipping and logistics company, and GSL, who are part of the Al Shirawi Group Of companies based in the UAE and operate one of the largest cold store logistics and distribution companies in the Middle East.
The recent announcement by the Chancellor of the Exchequer awarding Freeport status to Plymouth is expected to help the Wild Water Group to further expand in the South West. Food and drink hubs and export initiatives present specific opportunities along with the announcement that P&O Crusies will be opening up for British Isles cruises from late June 2021 with international cruises starting later this year.
