Bathing Beauty specialises in mindfully manufacturing affordable and effective natural skincare products for everybody without costing The Earth.
A kitchen table start up, Bathing Beauty was founded in 2010. Bathing Beauty is a unique company in many ways, one of which is that all products are still handmade using traditional techniques by their all-female team in rural North Wales.
Founder
George Jones, Founder - George is a qualified osteopath with over 23years’ clinical experience. She has a deep understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the human body, and it was this knowledge, and her experience as a mother that informed her formulations.
Business purpose
Bathing Beauty was born out of desperation and a mothers deep rooted belief that she could do better. Unable to find any products that did not irritate her young son’s sensitive skin, George set out to create her own. George has formulated every one of her 50 products. She also designs the packaging, writes the copy and with her husband Simeon creates the distinctive artwork for the product boxes.
Each product is thoughtfully formulated to serve a purpose. Each product only contains those ingredients that are required for that purpose. The ingredients are carefully sourced. With a special interest in skin sensitivities, the products are free from nut, palm and fragrance oil, parabens and sulphates.
What started on a kitchen table in 2010, has now grown to occupy three converted agricultural buildings between Denbigh and Ruthin, which George has renamed The Source.
Winners of over 40 National Awards, George is most proud that in May 2022, Bathing Beauty became the first B Corp Beauty Brand in Wales. B Corp is a rigorous auditing process, achieving this standard indicates that Bathing Beauty has achieved and maintains the highest standards of Ethical, Sustainable and Transparent Business Practice in the World today.
Funding
Thanks to our £45,000 micro loan, Bathing Beauty was able to expand to meet the ever-increasing demand for its products. The money also allowed the business to move into more space in the production hub she rents in north Wales and invest in machinery to improve efficiency.

The micro loan will allow her to further expand the business to produce even more products with the ever-increasing demand. She also has plans to use the building for events and workshops.

Each product is thoughtfully formulated to solve a problem. Every stage, from the creation of the formulae, packaging, design, manufacturing, wrapping and dispatch is carried out in house at The Source. We are in a beautiful grade-II listed building in Llangynhafal, which is owned by Denbighshire council, and the loan from Development Bank of Wales has allowed us to purchase some new machinery.
