Stakeholder Engagement Manager

The stakeholder engagement manager will lead on developing and delivering strategies to build our credibility, relevance, and influence with stakeholders. Success in this role depends on ensuring that key political and other influential audiences have a good understanding of our purpose, mission and impact. We want our stakeholders to feel informed about and have a voice in the way we deliver against our corporate plan, understanding how our activity supports the citizens or groups they represent.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Develop and implement a strategic stakeholder engagement and communication plan
  • Map stakeholder groups by influence and interest and develop appropriate, targeted communications
  • Produce political and policy briefings for senior colleagues
  • Develop and deliver a programme of engagement events (roundtables, webinars etc.
  • Line management responsibility providing training and guidance where required
  • Maximise value for money, identify speaking opportunities for the CEO and members of the senior management team and investment leadership team
  • Lead on audience research including brand awareness and sentiment
  • Work with the communications team to prepare lines to take and key messages on policy and topical affairs
  • Work with the wider business to maximise opportunities for the stakeholder voice, ensuring openness and accountability
  • Any other task as may be defined by the Communications Director to meet the operational needs of the organisation.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience

Essential

  • A strong background in stakeholder engagement or public affairs
  • Knowledge of the Welsh economy and economic development
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to influence at a senior level
  • Strong communication skills including writing and proofreading
  • Able to understand and interpret information from a diverse range of sources including government policy, current affairs and politics
  • Experience of event management and networking
  • Self-motivated with the ability to take a proactive approach and able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritise and organise work under pressure

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the Development Bank of Wales Group
  • Being a Welsh speaker or learner would be a distinct advantage
