ICT Data Manager

We’re recruiting for an ICT Data Manager based out of Cardiff

Job Purpose

The role holder will be responsible for the management of DBW’s data strategy implementation and will be a key member of the wider project team seeking to embed continuous improvement to DBW’s strategic direction in this vital area.

The data strategy aims to drive practical improvements and continuous innovation in the way data is stored, classified, secured and utilised in order to achieve the Banc’s vision of having ‘one source of truth’ for data and ultimately becoming a data driven organisation.

The ability and empathy to develop effective working relationships with colleagues who are effectively internal stakeholders in the change process, will be essential for success in the role - as will a general understanding of how current and emerging technologies could be embraced to deliver change and the required outcomes for data management in the organisation.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the ICT Operations Manager - Technology, ICT team and key  stakeholders from the wider business to implement the data strategy
  • Proactively manage the adoption of data architecture principals to achieve a ‘one source of truth’ for data
  • Promote the use of existing and emerging cloud technologies to effectively and efficiently manage DBW’s data
  • Work closely with the Risk and Compliance department to ensure data is identified, classified and secured against appropriate data standards, in turn driving a culture of continuous improvement
  • Ensure that roles and responsibilities for data management are clearly defined
  • Be a data quality evangelist. Align and prioritise data quality for strategic projects, demonstrate data quality improvements through various KPIs and champion data quality across the organization
  • Work with the Business Process Improvement team to optimize key processes for data quality, leveraging the expertise of third-party suppliers where required
  • Any other task as may be defined by the ICT Operations Manager - Technology to meet the operational needs of the business.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in implementing and managing data management best practices, such as the DAMA framework
  • Broad understanding of the key elements of data quality and governance
  • Demonstrable experience/understanding of how technology can be leveraged to support data management practices
  • Excellent interpersonal verbal communication and influencing skills
  • Very high standard of written communication skills for a variety of audiences
  • Demonstrable technical and project management experience, with corresponding relevant technical accreditations
  • Problem solver with the ability to analyse situations or issues, capture current process states, identify future requirements and deliver practical, high quality solutions
  • Ability to prioritise and organise work under pressure and determination to complete tasks to a high standard with measurable success
  • A flexible approach to working hours

Desirable

  • Degree level educated
  • Understanding of the TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) or similar
  • Experience of delivering Digital Transformation initiatives
  • Understanding and experience of change management processes
  • Understanding of business analysis techniques
  • Experience of financial or professional services companies and processes
