Today, on International Women’s Day 2021, Llais Cymru is proud to be launching their brand new bilingual and national Awards, to celebrate the amazing achievements of businesswomen across Wales.

Llais Cymru is a bilingual Marketing, Events and Media company based in Machynlleth. Having launched the business on International Women’s Day 2020, Director Heulwen Davies is delighted that she took the plunge;

“Launching a business, a week before the first lockdown, could have been a disaster! I’ve been overwhelmed by the support. I employed my two first members of staff within the first three months and I haven’t looked back.  I never take anything for granted, but I feel extremely grateful and I love being my own boss.”

Heulwen has always been passionate about inspiring and empowering women. In 2017 she founded Mam Cymru, the first bilingual magazine for Mums in Wales. She went on to publish ‘Mam – Croeso i’r Clwb’ the first Welsh book about parenting. Having been nominated for a Chwarae Teg Womenspire for her work in supporting Welsh women, she’s proud to be using her own business to shine a spotlight on Welsh businesswomen.

“I am extremely passionate about supporting women and being a good role model for my daughter. Women across Wales are running all sorts of amazing businesses and the Llais Cymru Awards will be an opportunity for us all to come together, have fun and celebrate all our achievements. It’s been a tough year for businesses, it’s time to unite, give ourselves a big pat on the back and inspire others to follow their dreams”.

Llais Cymru’s Welsh Women in Business Awards will be held online on Friday the 2nd of July at 19:00. This is the first bilingual and national event of its kind in Wales. As a result, the event has attracted the support of the Development Bank of Wales as their main sponsor.

Beverley Downes, Marketing and Communications Director at the Development Bank of Wales, said: “We want to encourage entrepreneurial women and to demonstrate our commitment to supporting women in business and female-led teams across the length and breadth of Wales.

“Importantly, we want to show that a diverse workforce is key to achieving growth and brings real economic benefit to Wales. We are proud to be the main sponsor of the first Llais Cymru Welsh Women in Business Awards celebrating the achievements of hundreds of Welsh women in business.”

Voting is open from today until the 30th of April. The public and the business owners themselves are invited to cast their votes on the new Llais Cymru website which also launches today. There are 15 award categories, not forgetting the ‘Mum’s Business’ category to acknowledge Mothers juggling businesses with parenting and home schooling!

“Size doesn’t matter to us! If you’re a one - woman band or a woman who runs a huge company, a new business or a business who’s been in existence for 50 years. We are all amazing, we are all worthy and we urge everyone to vote for their favourite female business owners in Wales”.
