With offices in Mold and Wrexham, Sentinel Environmental Consultancy provides specialist asbestos and radon monitoring.

A micro loan from the Development Bank of Wales has enabled environmental specialists Daniel Roberts and Luke Jones to join forces and launch Sentinel Environmental Consultancy Limited.

With offices in Mold and Wrexham, Sentinel will provide specialist services for asbestos and radon monitoring to ensure compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and IRR99. This includes asbestos surveys; air monitoring, training and consultancy across a wide range of sectors including residential, industry and education.

Heather Abrahams, Investment Executive for the Development Bank of Wales says that the pair has a strong track record working for large environmental consultancies: “Daniel and Luke both benefit from excellent credentials and sound business knowledge. They have demonstrated their ability to generate revenue and now have ambitious plans to deliver a niche service that provides clients across North Wales with flexibility and value for money. They were an ideal fit for our micro loan fund which offers loans of £1,000 to £50,000.”

Director Daniel Roberts adds: “Having previously worked together, both Luke and I share a firm commitment to developing a business that focuses on quality of service and customer care. This loan from the development bank means that we are already busy working with customers to protect our future; advising on procedures, policies and documentation in line with government regulations and approved codes of practices. It really is thanks to the can-do approach of the investment experts at Development Bank of Wales that we’ve managed to get the business off the ground.”

With extensive industry experience, Daniel and Luke hold all BOHS Certification relevant to the services they provide including BOHS P401, P402, P403, P404, P405 and P406. Daniel also holds BOHS Certificate of Competence in Asbestos.

Backed by Welsh Government, the Wales Micro Business Loan Fund has invested in 390 start-ups and established businesses over the last five years; safeguarding or creating some 2000 jobs across Wales. With the support of Welsh Government, the fund has increased from £6 million to £18 million during that time.
