Xscape Rooms

Mal-Green
Portfolio Executive (Micros)

We’re passionate about our home-town of Bangor and our love of puzzles. The funding/support from the Development Bank and the Town Centre Entrepreneurship Fund has enabled us to fulfil a gap in the market and create a fun and affordable activity for people of all ages to enjoy.

Jordan Williams, Co-founder, Xscape Rooms

Bangor brothers Jordan and Nick Williams turned their passion for puzzles into a new business venture with the help of the Development Bank of Wales and colleagues at Business Wales.

Having opened in November 2021, Xscape Rooms are Bangor’s first Escape Rooms and they’re providing hours of fun for local families and tourists.

A micro loan of £20,000 from the Development Bank of Wales was used to fit-out the three rooms with the latest technology and equipment while a grant of £10,000 from the Welsh Government’s Town Centre Entrepreneurship Fund covered the initial rental costs.

The brothers also received one-to-one support from an experienced Business Wales adviser and have gone on to create two new jobs.

Jordan Williams said: “We’ve often enjoyed Escape Rooms when visiting other towns and cities, so it made absolute sense to launch our own venture here in Bangor as there is nothing like it here. We’ve designed all the games ourselves and we’re very grateful for the funding from the Development Bank and the Town Centre Entrepreneurship Fund.”
